HACER hosts many events throughout the semester. These include cultural performances, community service outreach, social events, study breaks, and our biweekly general body meetings.  If you would like to learn more about our larger yearly events, you can find more information about each event below.

Fall Semester

Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration

During Hispanic Heritage month we celebrate by putting together a fundraiser where we have food from a variety of Hispanic/Latin countries. Last year the profits from all of the food sales were donated to RAICES, a nonprofit organization that aims to provide legal services for immigrants.

¡Ritmo!

HACER’s annual cultural showcase is known as 💃🏽🕺🏽¡Ritmo! 🕺🏽💃🏽
“Ritmo” is the Spanish word for “rhythm,” and that’s just what you’re sure to feel at our show. ¡Ritmo! features an evening of food, song, and dance as we celebrate Hispanic and Latin-American culture with the Rice community. From reggaeton to mariachi, Folklorico to rap, this show has acts for everyone. If you would like to see past cultural shows make sure to check out our YouTube page!

Spring Semester

Latin Pub Night

Ven a reir! Ven a bailar! Latin Pub Night is the one night where there is only Latin music played at Willy’s Pub, hosted by HACER. Atrevete-te-te to come and dance to your fave Latin classics, or meet other Latin music/dance enthusiasts! Whether you grew up listening to Latin music & want to have a taste of home, or you’ve never danced to Latin music & are wanting to try, Latin Pub Night is the place to be! Some of the proceeds from the cover go to a charity that helps and supports the Hispanic/Latinx community.

Quinceañer@

In Latin America, a girl’s fifteenth birthday marks her transition from childhood into (marriageable) adulthood. At some point, this particular birthday began to be celebrated with a fiesta de quinceañera. In the spring we choose one lucky person to be our Quinceañera or Quinceañero.
